How Do We Use Advocacy?
PIC has many causes members can join to vastly improve their environments. We rely heavily on advocacy efforts to let our voices be heard in order to create systematic change in our areas.
PIC also uses multiple forms of both print and digital media to promote advocacy efforts and often create and collaborate with other partners to create impactful campaigns.
Below are just a few ways we advocate to create better communities.
National Innovative Communities Conference
This is the only annual community driven conference in Southern California leading the way in promoting new strategies and skills to create safe and healthy communities. For more information please visit www.pic-nicc.org.
Choose Your Ride
Choose Your Ride is an advocacy campaign in collaboration with the Ontario and Fontana Police Departments. Its main purpose is to raise awareness and educate the community about the consequences of drinking and driving.
Safe and Sober Prom
Safe and Sober Prom encourages teens to take the pledge to party safe and sober. It was established to raise awareness of the risks associated with underage drinking around the prom and graduation seasons. Recently, PIC has worked in partnership with Reach Out, the Fontana Community Coalition, and the Fontana Police Department to support this annual advocacy campaign.
